The Confederate State Capitol on the Old Southwest Trail through Washington is the building to which Confederate Governor Harris Flanagin moved his state government when Union forces captured Little Rock in September 1863. The building, erected in 1836, as the Hempstead County Courthouse, is part of Historic Washington State Park.

To reach the park, take Exit #30 off I-30 at Hope and travel eight miles northwest on U.S. 278 to Washington.
 
Open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The park is closed on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
